Johnson Wins IGA Match Play

Tyler Johnson defeated Jeff Panek 3 and 2 Thursday afternoon in the finals of the IGA Match Play Championship presented by Caffrey's Steakhouse.  Johnson, a senior-to-be at Northern Iowa played extremely steady golf throughout the final match.  He birdied three of the first four holes to gain a 1 up edge, increased it to 2 up through 8 then won 10 and 11 to widen the margin to 4 holes.  Panek birdied the par-5 13th to gain one back but halves on 14, 15 and 16 gave Johnson the final margin.

Jon Brown Advances to U.S. Public Links

Fresh off his record 7th victory in the Des Moines Men's City Championship, Jon Brown fired a two-round total of 1-under 143 to capture the lone qualifying spot into the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship on Monday.  The qualifier, a 36-hole marathon in heat indexes that rose into triple digits, was held at The Harvester Golf Club in Rhodes.  ...more

Schnell Tops at Senior Open Qualifying

Two of  Iowa’s best Club Professionals got their first shot at the U. S. Senior Open and ended up in a playoff for the only qualifying spot at Lake Panorama National Golf Course on June 22^nd  .  Curt Schnell of Milford and Ken Schall of Clive both fired one-under-par 71 but Schnell rolled in a 10 foot putt for birdie on the first playoff hole to earn his way to the National Senior Open. ...more

Vandersee Earns Trip to Trump

Players came from all over to compete in the 2009 U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier held Thursday, June 18 at Fort Dodge Country Club.  Ian Vandersee, of West Des Moines, was the only qualifier with a 36-hole total of 142.  Vandersee was followed by Tanner Kesterson, of Plano, Texas, and Sawyer Shaw, of West Palm Beach, Florida.  Kesterson shot 146 making him the first alternate with Shaw as second alternate.  ...more

Tournament Club of Iowa

The Tournament Club of Iowa is an Arnold Palmer Signature Course. The course is challenging, yet appealing to a wide cross-section of golfers. The course winds through hills, dramatic bluffs and timberland surrounding beautiful Big Creek and two major lakes.  TCI has hosted two IGA State Match Play Championships (06, 09), the 2008 Iowa Mid-Amateur and multiple USGA Qualifiers.

Kyle Bermel and Jim Butler were the Regular and Senior Division Champions, respectively, at the Clinton Riverboat Days Amateur.

Leary, Dalziel Win Hunters Ridge Titles

Iowa State golfer and Waterloo native Nathan Leary fired a final round 5-under 67 to win the 2009 Hunters Ridge Amateur by a stroke over Cedar Rapids' Nate Dunn.
