33rd Iowa Senior Amateur Championship

Windy conditions and the pressure of the final round of a major championship combined to make scores jump over the last 18 holes of the 33rd Iowa Senior Amateur, but Bob Brummel overcame it all to finish as the wire-to-wire victor. Brummel's final round 76 left him at 4-over par 220, good enough for a three shot victory over Jim Curell of Boone and Matt Steddom of Marshalltown.
Brummel shot the week's only under par round at Sioux City Country Club with is 1-under 71 in the opening 18. He led by three after day one, by three after day two and finished with a three shot win. This is the first IGA conducted championship win for the Orange City resident, although he has won the senior division of the Northwest Amateur in 2010 and 2011.
A final round 74 from Ron Post of Manly was highlighted by a hole-in-one on the 16th hole. Post's 74 tied for the second best final round and propelled him to a top 10 finish.
Scott Carnes of Hiawatha won the the Super Senior Division by six shots over Phil Joselyn of Fort Dodge. Bill Ericksen of Alta came in third.
