Bill Manske of Algona defeated Jim Curell of Boone 4&2 in the finals of the inaugural IGA Senior Shootout. Manske got off to a hot start making birdie on three of the first five holes of the championship match. That gave him a 2 up lead that he never relinquished. Curell fought back and got to within 1 at the turn but could get no closer.
A par on the 10th hole gave Manske a 2 up lead which remained through the next three holes. At the dangerous par-3 5th hole (14th of the match) Curell found the water with his tee shot, leading to a bogey and a 3 up lead for Manske with only four to play. Manske then closed out Curell on their 16th hole of the match. After Curell hit his tee shot in the water Manske hit his approach to within 15 feet and Curell conceded the hole and the match.
In the consolation bracket Bill Corrick of Fairfield defeated Gary Engle of Ottumwa in the championship match 2&1.
