Rittman, Swegle earn spots at U.S. Junior Am
64th U.S. Junior Amateur Championship

Taylor Rittman (L) and Jeffrey Swegle earned co-medalist honors at the U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier June 22nd
Taylor Rittman of Ankeny and Jeffrey Swegle of West Des Moines each shot 154 over 36 holes at Finkbine Golf Course Wednesday to claim the two qualifying spots into the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. Rittman used a strong opening round 74 to propel him to a tie for medalist honors while Swegle put together two rounds of 77. Alexander Moorman of Centerville is the 1st alternate after posting 157 and Jackson Stimple of Colorado Springs, CO earned 2nd alternate status after a 158.
The Iowa City course was in terrific shape and played quite difficult for the field of 36. That difficulty was equal parts golf course and weather, with windy, drizzling and, sometimes, downright rainy and chilly conditions.
Rittman and Swegle will play 36 holes of stroke play qualifying on July 18th and 19th at Gold Mountain GC in Bremerton, Washington. The top 64 will advance to match play to determine the U.S. Junior Amateur Champion.
