Elliott claims Lake Creek Amateur

Gene Elliott shot a final round 69 at Lake Creek Country Club on Sunday afternoon to win the Lake Creek Amateur by three shots over Jay Monahan of Spirit Lake. Elliott was a shot out of the lead heading into Sunday's play, which is 36 holes for those that make the championship cut. He opened with a 68 in the morning to take the lead. This was the first win for the Iowa Golf Hall of Famer in the Lake Creek Am.
