USGA Handicap System
Each year the IGA holds a series of seminars on the USGA Handicap System™. These seminars are half-day events that go over the sections of the Handicap System Manual and are designed to provide the handicap committee members with rules and information to ensure that the Indexes™ of the members at your club are accurate. We provide the attendees with publications and posters and arm them with knowledge of the system to help protect its integrity.
GHIN Software Suite
Throughout the spring the IGA holds seminars focused on the software package offered to our member clubs, namely the GHIN Software Suite. It is important to note the difference between these software seminars and those that are focused specifically on the USGA Handicap System™. The Software seminars focus on the various computer programs that can be used at IGA member clubs for their handicapping and tournament management needs. We go over the various product offerings and show the attendees how to use the software to its highest capabilities. In 2009 we began offering these seminars via online web conferencing to eliminate attendance costs for our member clubs and their employees.
Rules of Golf
The IGA hosts a series of seminars that focus on the Rules of Golf. Usually these seminars are in conjunction with the Iowa High School Golf Coaches, but attendance is not limited to coaches and players. The seminars last around 2-3 hours and focus on the most abused rules, but the IGA has the ability to customize the Rules of Golf seminars to virtually any time frame and audience. We are even available to speak at our member club’s functions, schedules permitting.
Club Issues and Information
The IGA continues to offer forums that focus on issues affecting golf clubs in Iowa. Usually once a year the IGA will host a "Club Forum" that focuses on one or two issues of specific interest to clubs and courses in Iowa. These seminars have a different focus each year, highlighting everything from taxes to turfgrass.
