Ankeny, IA – Drake junior Ben Freeman (Fargo, N.D.) sank at 12-foot putt for birdie on the first playoff hole to win the Briarwood Amateur Sunday at the Briarwood Club of Ankeny.

Freeman shot a 68-69 to finish with a seven-under par 137 in regulation, tying for the lead with Jon Brown of Urbandale and Bret Taylor of Council Bluffs.  The trio began the playoff on the par-4 18th hole.

Freeman, who earlier this year qualified for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, had five birdies, along with an eagle on No. 12, in the second round.
