Des Moines Golf, Kalona CC winners at IGA Club Team

Des Moines, IA – The Iowa Golf Association has held the IGA Club Team Championship for four years and two clubs have managed a stranglehold on the traveling trophy. The team of J.D. Anderson, Ron Peterson, Josh Janeczko and Brad Walkup captured the trophy for the second time for the Des Moines Golf & CC. DMG joins Hunters Ridge GC in Marion as the only winners of the event, Hunters winning in '06 and '08 and DMG winning in '07 and '09.
In the four count three format staged at Wakonda Club on Monday, Des Moines Golf carded a six-over par 222 to win by four shots over the Briarwood Club of Ankeny team of Jon Olson, Eric and Jeff Boehlert and Levi Slings. Olson carded the single low round by an individual with a two-under 70. Anderson led the Des Moines Golf team with a 73 while Peterson fired a 74, Walkup a 75 and Janeczko an 83.
In the Net competition Kalona Country Club emerged victorious for the second time in the event's short history. Kalona CC also captured the Net division in 2007. In the scoring format where each team counts their best three of four net scores on each hole, the Kalona CC team of Matt Berg, Jim Hauth, Clayton Hersberger and Aaron Rath managed a five-under par 211. That was good enough for a six stroke victory over Monticello GC, Des Moines Golf and AH Blank GC.
