Aossey captures 2nd Iowa Senior Amateur Crown

Burlington, IA – Sam Aossey of Cedar Rapids fired a final round 1-under 71 to finish at 4-under 212 at the 31st playing of the Iowa Senior Amateur Championship at Spirit Hollow GC in Burlington. Aossey led wire-to-wire in the 54-hole championship and the five shot margin of victory was quite a bit different than his first Iowa Senior Amateur crown, which he captured in 2006 with a chip-in on the last hole of regulation. Jim Curell of Boone finished second at 217 while Jim Butler of Fort Madison was third at 218.
In the Super Senior Division Bob Gitchell of Ames won the title shooting rounds of 78-79-82--239. He finished six strokes ahead of Lee Sullivan of Ankeny.
