Mike McCoy reacts to a putt during his second round win over Erik Hanson

Kiawah Island, S.C. - West Des Moines resident Mike McCoy was defeated on Wednesday morning in the round of 16 at the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship at Kiawah Island.  Even though McCoy fired a stroke play score of three-under thru 17 holes, he was defeated 2&1 by Todd Burgan of Knoxville, TN. 

McCoy, who shared medalist honors with Nathan Smith of Pennsylvania and was the #1 seed, defeated Robert Crockett of Louisville, KY 4&3 in the first round.  He then dispatched of former Major League All-Star pitcher Erik Hanson of Kirkland, WA 7&5.
