Playing Opportunities for Female golfers
The Iowa Golf Association and Iowa Women's Golf Association are offering expanded playing opportunities for female golfers this summer. The IGA and IWGA have entered into an agreement for 2012 that has the IGA administering the IWGA's 9 championships. In addition to those events, the IGA has started a Women's Match Play Championship.
Many women golfers struggle to find quality tournaments to participate in over the summer months, especially ones that are here in Iowa. We want to make all female golfers aware of some upcoming events they might be interested in. The IGA takes great pride in the quality and professionalism of the championships we administer and would love to see more players competing.
This IGA Women's Match Play Championship will be held at Sunnyside CC in Waterloo the last week of June. Players must be a member of the IGA in order to compete in the IGA Women's Match Play. This is tracked through the GHIN Handicap Rosters at IGA Member Clubs (i.e. if you have an IGA/GHIN # then you are a member of the IGA). A female does not need to be a member of the IGA to play in the IWGA events. The events that will be of interest to top women golfers are:
IWGA Senior Women's Amateur Championship - The Ridge GC, Sioux Center
June 18-19 (entry deadline is June 12)
