The Rules of Golf have been updated for 2012. You still cannot blow the ball into the hole, however.

on the IGA Rules of Golf Seminars***

2012 begins a new four-year cycle for the Rules of Golf and the Iowa Golf Association is once again holding seminars educating individuals on these rules. There are three scheduled around the state and each seminar will feature the same topics, focusing on the most common and applicable rules.

Amana Colonies Golf Course will be the site of the first seminar on March 31st. Majestic Hills Golf Course in Denison will host on April 14th and The Briarwood Club of Ankeny will be the site on April 21st. All seminars are on Saturdays.

These seminars are free to attendees and each person will receive a new 2012-15 Rules of Golf book. Decisions on the Rules of Golf books should also be available for purchase at a discounted rate.  Each seminar is open to anyone who would like to learn a little more about the rules of golf and high school golfers and coaches are specifically encouraged to attend.  The seminars will begin at 9:00 am and last until approximately noon, depending on questions.

IGA Volunteer Workshop

In addition, the IGA will once again host a more in-depth rules and tournament volunteer presentation on Friday, April 20th at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny. This seminar will last from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 4:00 p.m. Individuals who have a serious desire to volunteer at IGA (or other organization) golf tournaments are the target market. Once again, the cost is free. Many of the attendees will be current IGA volunteers but anyone who feels they might have an interest is welcome.

While these are the seminars scheduled at this time, the IGA Staff is always willing to work with our member clubs if they would like to host a rules presentation for their membership.  Simply call or email the IGA to work out the details.

To sign up for any of these seminars call the office at (888) 388-4442 or send an email to cpitts@iowagolf.org. If you are a high school coach, please indicate how many players will be attending with you.
