Tour professional Steve Stricker was the medalist at the qualifier after firing rounds of 65-64--129 while Jason Allred claimed the second and final spot with rounds of 71-63--134. Darin Fisher, pro at Bos Landen GC in Pella, chose to play in Columbus in large part because there were so many qualifying spots because of the size and quality of the field. Unfortunately Darin did not make it to the U.S. Open Championship after firing rounds of 75-76--151. A 36-hole total of 140 would have gotten into a playoff for the final spot at Columbus.
