| Iowa Team Brings Home Senior Tri-State Cup |
| Iowa Team Earns 7th Victory in 16 year history of the
event
The matches are based off the popular Ryder Cup format with a round of Foursomes and Four-Ball matches on Monday and finishing with Singles matches on Tuesday. Each match is scored on a Nassau format, with 1 point available for each 9 and 1 point for the total 18, making each match worth 3 points. However, in each session a team or individual is actually playing two matches. For instance an Iowa Foursomes pairing is playing a match concurrently against a team from Wisconsin and a team from Minnesota. Thus in the team play there are 6 players in a group and during the singles matches there are 3 in a pairing.
After day one, which consists of the Foursomes and Four-Ball matches, Iowa led with 52 points, Wisconsin was second with 47 and Minnesota tallied 45. Iowa was able to hold on to that lead during the Singles matches to finish with 103 total points. Wisconsin finished in second with 95 points and Minnesota was third with 90.
Each team is made up of 16 players: 12 Seniors age 55 and up and 4 ‘Super’ Seniors age 65 and up. The Iowa team was comprised of Jim Butler, Dan Naughton, Dave Sergeant, Tom Sandie, Scott Carnes, Gary Engle, Ron Post, John Brown, Larry Ross, Bruce Gervais, Mick Albaugh, Tim Taylor and ‘Super’ Seniors Jim Mitchell, Bob Gitchell, John McGuiness and Phil Joselyn. Congratulations to the guys on a job well done!
