Jim Butler of Fort Madison shot a
two round total of 1-over 143 to earn the #12 seed in the Match
Play draw at the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship at Flint Hills
National Golf Club in Andover, KS. Butler's stroke play
totals are even more impressive when you consider he took a 9 on
the par-4 15th hole during round one.
In his first round match Butler
dispatched Robert Allshouse of Greensburg, PA in 19 holes and
made deuce on the 17th hole in match two against William Boles of Wilson,
N.C. to win 2&1.
In Round 3 Butler fell to #28 seed Stanford Lee of Heber Springs, AR
5&4. This was Butler's first appearance at the U.S. Senior
Amateur.
Butler's finish at Flint Hills
secured his second Iowa Senior Amateur of the Year award,
presented by the IGA. Butler also won the award in 2005.
