Larry Adamson To Receive IAGA Award
Adamson is 13th to Receive IAGA Distinguished Service Award

North Hollywood, CA - September 25, 2006- Larry Adamson, who has served more than 28 years in golf administration, has been named the 13th International Association of Golf Administrators Distinguished Service Award recipient.

Adamson, a native of Pimento, Indiana, just south of Terre Haute, served in the public education systems of Indiana and Tennessee for 12 years before joining the United States Golf Association as Director of Championship Administration in 1979. A former high school basketball coach with both undergraduate and graduate degrees from Indiana State University, Adamson was responsible for processing nearly 700,000 entries to USGA events around the country. He is often recruited to entertain guests with the many bizarre tales of admissions woe heard in his 24 years as “entry gatekeeper” at the USGA.

Adamson retired in September of 2002 from the USGA. Not being able to stay away from golf for very long, Adamson was appointed the Special Olympic P.J. Boatwright, Jr. internship with the Tennessee Golf Association in 2003. His coaching and teaching background contributed in his successful direction of more than 400 athletes in Special Olympic programs throughout Tennessee. The proud father and grandfather remains active with the Tennessee Golf Association as a volunteer.

The IAGA Distinguished Service Award recognizes service that exemplifies the IAGA’s mission to “promote and conserve the best interests and the true spirit of the game.”

Adamson will be recognized as the 13th IAGA Distinguished Service Award recipient at the IAGA Annual Meeting in San Diego, California.  An awards dinner will be held Sunday, November 5th at the Hilton Torrey Pines.
