IGA Junior Player of the Year Points System

The award goes to the golfer who accumulates the most points based on the system outlined below. The system is designed to give the golfer who competes well at the national and state levels the best chance at taking home the honor. In 2013, points will accumulate through September 2nd. Any events ending after September 2nd will be applied to the 2014 Junior POTY race.

The player must be an Iowa resident.

Positions will not be elevated in events that feature juniors from other areas outside of Iowa. For example: 3rd place points will be awarded the 3rd place finisher even if the 1st and 2nd place finishers are not Iowa juniors.
Bonus points are awarded based on final finish. For example: A player who is a quarter-finalist in the US Amateur will receive 1600 points, not 200 + 400 + 800 + 1600.

Tiebreaker (in order):
1. Points earned in the Iowa Junior Amateur Championship
2. Points earned in the Iowa Amateur Championship
3. Points earned in the IGA Match Play Championship
4. Highest point total earned in a remaining event
5. 2nd highest point total earned in a remaining event
6. 3rd highest point total earned in a remaining event

It is very important for junior golfers who finish well in the outlined events to communicate those finishes to the IGA office. It is very hard for us to keep track of every tournament that is available.

The IGA Rules & Competitions Committee reserves the right to award points for outstanding achievements outside the IGA Junior Player of the Year Points System.
