Kesterson & Yunek on top at Fort Dodge

Tanner Kesterson cruised to a six shot victory in the 2012 Fort Dodge Amateur on Sunday. Kesterson, who spends his summers in Fort Dodge and plays collegiately at Oklahoma State, shot a final round 71 to win by six over Justin Schulte of West Des Moines and Mike Slavin of Johnston.
Kesterson distanced himself from the rest of the field with a 5-under par 66 in round two which gave him a five shot lead heading into the final round over Brian Allison of Johnston. Allison failed to get any momentum going in round three and posted a final round 75 to finish tied for 5th.
Joel Yunek of Mason City played steady golf all weekend to capture the Senior Division of the Fort Dodge Amateur. Yunek shot rounds of 1-under 70 in each of the first two rounds and then finished with an even par 71 in the final round, which gave him a two shot victory over Bill Manske of Algona. Coming in third was Fort Dodge’s Dave Sergeant who was another stroke behind Manske.
