MEMBERSHIP SERVICES
IGA Initiatives
- Since 1950 the IGA has awarded over 150 Iowa seniors with a four-year scholarship, currently valued at $8,000 ($2,000/year for four years).
- Since 2006 the IGA has worked closely with the IWGA to provide administrative support for their organization. It began with a fund that provided $4 for every woman member of the IGA and now, in lieu of the fund, the IGA provides a staff member to help coordinate and manage IWGA activities. The IGA also provides office space and equipment to the IWGA.
- The IGA is a gold level sponsor of Iowa Turfgrass Institute events and makes an annual donation to the ISU Turf Extension Service. The IGA donation amounts to approximately 10-15 Turf Extension Service visits each year.
- Each spring or fall the IGA hosts a Club Forum that deals with topics and issues of interest to our member clubs. The IGA recruits national and regional speakers to present on topics that are of current interest.
- Partnering with The First Tee to develop the Greater Des Moines Chapter and, hopefully, other chapters throughout the state.
- The IGA spearheaded the revitalization of the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame in 2006 which led to the first class of inductees in 9 years!
