At their annual meeting on November 2nd the Iowa Golf Association Board of Directors voted to approve changes to the Handicap Index™ Revision schedule.  This schedule sets the active score posting season for ALL golf courses and clubs in Iowa.

As per Section 8-3 of the USGA Handicap System™ “any club located within the region covered by an authorized golf association (Iowa Golf Association) must observe the revision schedule established by the association”.  Remember that a handicap that does not comply to this note may NOT be termed a “USGA Handicap Index™”.

Beginning in 2008, the revision schedule will include a total of 16 revisions and the revision days will be Wednesdays.  In the past the schedule included 14 revisions and the revision days were on Friday.  The 2008 posting season will open with a revision on April 2nd, and close on October 29th with a revision calculated every two weeks throughout the season.  Please see the attached schedule for complete information.

These changes were made with the best interests of Iowa golf clubs in mind.  Adding two revisions and updating them every two weeks gives Iowa golfers as up-to-date Handicap Index™ as possible.  Moving the revision days to Wednesdays from Fridays means that the golfers and officials in charge of competitions will have new indexes well in advance of the weekend, when most events are held.
