2nd IGA Club Forum to Focus on 'Thinking Green'

“Energy issues, environmental conservation, global warming, and “going green” are buzz words and budding concerns most business owners can’t escape these days.”

The above quote from the June/July 2007 issue of the National Club Association’s “Club Director Magazine” frames the issues that we plan to discuss in the 2008 Club Forum. This seminar will identify the key environmental issues that golf clubs and courses must address now and in the future.

We are pleased to have Dr. Kimberly Erusha, Director of Education for the USGA Green Section as our featured guest speaker. Dr. Erusha is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the Green Section's educational programs pertaining to the results of its turfgrass and environmental research programs and its other environmental activities. Prior to joining the USGA in 1990, Dr. Erusha received her B.S. degree from Iowa State University. She completed her Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Horticulture, specializing in turfgrass management, at the University of Nebraska. Dr. Erusha is a native of Walford, Iowa.

We also have an interesting mix of speakers on several topics of interest. Brett Hetland, CGCS, John Temme and Jason Manfull are Iowa based golf course superintendents who are leaders in innovative management practices. John Gustafson represents a company that specializes in environmental products and systems for golf courses.

Each club is invited to attend and bring one or more guests. Appropriate guests could be your Club President, a member of the Board of Directors, your club manager, your golf professional or your golf course superintendent.
