| Stewart, Chapman and Knepper Go Into Hall of Fame |
| Over 130 Attend Induction Reception April 4, 2008 The DMACC Newton Conference Center in Newton was a busy place on Friday, April 4th as a full room of attendees witnessed three deserving gentlemen recognized for their achievements in golf as they entered the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame.
Iowa Golf Association Executive Director Bill Dickens began the evening by speaking of Rudy Knepper’s golf career. Knepper, a top player nationally in the 1920’s was the first to be selected under the historical category.
Tom Chapman Jr. was the second inductee of the evening. Dave Sergeant, a lifelong friend of Chapman, along with Chapman’s daughter gave outstanding speeches on Tom’s behalf.
Larry Stewart, the final inductee of the evening was introduced by multiple individuals including Jeff Wendell, Executive Director of the Iowa Turfgrass Institute and staff members from the Newton Park and Rec team who worked closely with Stewart during his years at Westwood CC in Newton.
Congratulations to the class of 2008 as they join the distinguished list of 38 Iowa Golf Hall of Fame members.
