| Yunek Wins Iowa Senior Amateur in Playoff |
| Pomerantz Runner-up at Pleasant Valley for second
time

Joel Yunek of Mason City won the Iowa Senior Amateur on the second playoff hole over Robb Pomerantz of Des Moines. Pomerantz, who started the day four shots behind, closed with a flurry making birdie on five holes on the back nine for a final round 67 to finish at 3-under for the championship. Yunek, who was playing one group behind Pomerantz, trailed by one heading into the 18th and made a 16-footer for birdie to send it to extra holes.
In the playoff, both players narrowly missed birdie putts on the first hole then Yunek made a par to Pomerantz's bogey to capture the title. This was the second heartbreak for Pomerantz at Pleasant Valley. In 2005 at the Iowa Senior Amateur, he finished second to Jim Butler.
