D'Anne Kroemer Elected to IGA Board of Directors
Kroemer becomes First Women to Serve on IGA Board

D’Anne Kroemer, CAA, of Iowa City has been elected to fill the vacant seat on the Iowa Golf Association Board of Directors in the Southeast District.  She will serve the remainder of a three year term ending in November 2010.  Kroemer is the first women to serve on the IGA Board.

 

In making the announcement IGA President LeRoy Oxley said: “We are delighted to have D’Anne join the IGA Board.  She brings an impressive background of experience in golf to the board and I know that she will contribute greatly to the IGA and the game of golf in Iowa.”

 

“Serving as a member of the IGA Board of Directors allows me the opportunity to give service back to the sport that has made a positive difference in my life and the lives of many,” Kroemer stated.

 

Kroemer has an extensive background of experience in golf and high school athletic administration.  She is currently completing her first year as the Athletic Director at City High School in Iowa City.  Prior to the 2007-2008 school year, she was the Assistant Principal and Director of Athletics at Davenport Central High School from 2002-2007.

 

As a player, Kroemer was a two-time Division II first team All-American at Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) and was inducted into the Truman State Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004. She qualified twice for the USGA Women’s Public Links Championship and once for the U. S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.  She is a four-time Quad City Amateur Champion.

 

Kroemer received a Masters Degree in Athletic Administration from the University of New Mexico and served as the Assistant Women’s Golf Coach there for one year.  She was also the Head Women’s Golf Coach at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. for one year. She received a second Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Western Illinois University.

 

The Iowa Golf Association serves as the governing body of golf for the state of Iowa.

Run by amateur golfers the IGA provides a variety of programs and services that benefit everyone who plays the game. The IGA is licensed and authorized by the United States Golf Association for the administration of the USGA Handicap System™ and the USGA Course Rating System™.

 

The IGA’s most visible role is to conduct nine state championships including the Iowa Amateur for more than 100 years. The IGA also conducts seven USGA qualifiers and offers a series of handicap events called the “Members Net Tour” which is open to IGA members of all skill levels.

 

The IGA provides educational seminars on the Rules, USGA Handicapping and on issues of importance to its member clubs.  The IGA provides administrative and financial support to the Iowa Women’s Golf Association and the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame. The IGA’s Herman Sani Scholarship Program has provided substantial financial support to more than 130 Iowa students and is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the program in 2008.
