| Former Drake Golfer Kane Hanson is 1st Alternate out
of Chicago Qualifier June 3, 2008 Many golfers with Iowa ties competed over 36 holes Monday with a shot at making the final field in the U.S. Open. Former Drake golfer Kane Hanson lost a playoff Tuesday morning to obtain the final spot at Torrey Pines. Hanson will be the first alternate out of the Chicago area qualifier.
The Tequesta, FL site was the most popular for Iowans as five teed it up in the Sunshine State: Adam Collins of Des Moines, Dennis Meyer of Dubuque, Shad Muth of Clear Lake, Jeff Schmid of Iowa City and Brock Mulder of Waterloo. Tracy Vest of Des Moines and former Drake golfer Kane Hanson played in the Lake Forest, IL qualifier while Davenport's Brady Schnell and Chad Proehl of Urbandale competed in Columbus, Ohio.
